My SO is quite crafty, and we have a basement full of saws, sanders, and various woodworking tools.

I thought it would be a fun project to try and make some toys for our baby (6 mos.). Has anyone tried this, or have any info about it?

How would I know if the materials/paints were safe? Anything to specifically avoid using?

My husband and I want to make patio furniature, bird feeders , wind chimes , swings, garden animals, outdoor table chairs ect. to sell as a side line..we are new at this and bought basic tools, saws, air compresser guns ect and are just starting, I’d like to use full scale patterns for projects. Any ideas ??

Do i really need a table saw for building this?

I want to built this project (http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-Tetris-DVD-or-book-shelf/) but i don’t have a table saw. Can i just have 90 degree edges and only use a miter saw (which i own)?
so…if i had a compound miter saw i could make this project without a table saw…

What tools are essential for woodworking?

I have drills, a miter saw, and circular saw; that’s it for my power tools. Aside from those tools, I have hammers, screw drivers, pliers, etc.

I have noticed that I am becoming very interested in woodworking and have done a few projects, but I want to continue to advance and perhaps someday be a furniture builder in my free time.

Which tools or power tools are absolutely essential to do your average woodworking project? Also, how can I learn more about these things? Is it just me, or is this the best past time ever?

For power tools would I need a Miter Saw, a Circular Saw, and a Jigsaw? Also, does Bosch or DeWalt make better saws. And if Bosch or DeWalt don’t make good saws who does? I want to have a reasonably priced saw that works good, I sorta have a budget since im 15. Thanks!
lol, i wish i did have someone to help me.

Wanted to buy a mitre saw and a table saw for simple projects around the house. Then I came across a flip saw – a mitre saw that you turn upside down to be a table saw and vise versa. I’m skeptical, but the idea is attractive – one tool instead of two. Anyone ever use one? Are there better brands?

Which to buy next… router or table saw?

I’m trying to decide which tool to buy next for my workshop… a router or a table saw. So far my wood working projects have been small and simple. Now I want to begin making basic base and wall cabinets, doors and drawers. Cutting dadoes, rabbets, etc. would be part of that. Which would you choose?
I do have a compound miter saw and circular saw.

My guy would like to do some woodworking projects and he mentioned that he needed a table saw to start. I know nothing about tools so I was hoping someone out there could help. Did I mention I’m on a budget?

A table saw is a saw built into a table that can be raised and lowered, and such a saw comes with a number of safety features, such as a saw guard. He has several types of big saws, and all the little power tools-drills, dremels (sp?), power sanders and the like. He is good at woodworking, but I don’t think he has many woodworking type tools. Any guy or girl out there who enjoys working with tools, what tools are you glad you own, or what tools are on your wish list??

Thanks!
